The design of pram strollers is often based on the “classic” image of a baby carriage. These strollers often feature a bed or bassinet mounted on four wheels in a rectangular configuration.
The handle is often welded to the frame which supports the bassinet and forms the “legs” of the stroller.
Pram strollers are most ideal for newborn babies who are not able to sit up yet. Because the bassinet on these strollers is horizontal, a baby will only be able to lie down. If you have an infant that panics when they cannot see Mommy or Daddy, this design might be ideal for your family. A pram stroller allows you to place the infant so that he or she is facing you. It also has an ideal configuration to allow an infant to take a nap while traveling. Unlike other strollers, a pram can easily accommodate a blanket and pillow.
After a baby is able to sit up on their own, however, this type of stroller may no longer be a good choice. An infant who can sit up on their own is often curious about their environment, and this could cause him or her to try to escape from the stroller. Since prams usually do not safety belts, it is very likely that your child could overturn the stroller or fall out while attempting to do this. Other children who want to see what is going on around them even before they are able to sit on their own may dislike the design of a pram as well.
